The Ultimate Guide to 100 Best AI Newsletters on Substack in 2025
Discover the top AI newsletters curated through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity research - ranked by subscriber count with personal recommendations.
All the best reading on AI, right here, on Substack.
Let me level with you: This isn’t THE ultimate guide of AI publications on Substack. It’s MY ultimate guide, and frankly, that’s probably better than whatever algorithmic fever dream you’d get elsewhere.
I went full nerd on this. I asked ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity (using their research features) to cough up their best AI-focused Substack recommendations. I combined those with my own subscriptions, then did what any obsessive would do—crawled through the “Recommended” sections of many publications. The result is—quite coincidentally—exactly 100 AI-focused newsletters that don’t suck.
Note: I deliberately ignored Substack’s bestseller lists. Sure, some popular newsletters are missing, but that’s only because none of the AIs—or any of the publications I surveyed—bothered to recommend them. Not my problem. This approach actually left room for some deserving underdogs at the bottom of the list, which is refreshing in a world where follower count often trumps substance.
For the ranking of these 100 publications, I relied on Substack’s own subscriber numbers. (Twelve additional newsletters don’t publish their stats—you’ll find those on a separate list.)
About those stars (⭐)? For three months, I tracked every Substack post I shared. Yes, I stray somewhat across the spectrum, so deal with it. The number of stars reflects my share count—basically my personal stamp of “this didn’t waste my time.” The entries marked with 🆕? Those are newcomers (new to me, at least) that I plan to follow from now on.
The complete overview is exclusively for paying subscribers. You know, the people who actually fund this kind of obsessive research. Thank you

If you want to enjoy the full, unclipped version, I kindly ask you pay for one of the cappuccinos I needed while doing all this work. Guess what? A one-month fee for my newsletter is exactly the price of a medium latte at my favorite coffee bar. Isn’t that coincidence? 🙏🏻☕😀
Enjoy the rabbit hole. 🐰

Why Ravens May Rule the Future of Work
Are you a cross-disciplinary expert? Do you connect your skills in unrelated fields with a generalist mindset? Do you consider your "lack of focus" an asset rather than a liability? You might be a raven.
Enough with the Playbooks and Frameworks!
Playbooks and frameworks are like lawyers. You don’t need them until you’ve built something valuable.
Stop Hiring Experienced Candidates
Stop looking for job candidates with “experience.” It’s the people with experience who built those awful socio-technical systems in the first place.
Geez, I thought I was better than HOW ABOUT THAT CAPPUCCINO? 🙏🏻☕😀. LOL.
If these are the best newsletter of them all, how many do you read, Jurgen?
