A month ago, I started a new phase in my career as a Transition Manager at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam to lead the transition of their IT department toward a more agile target operating model.
We’re talking 400+ people and 50+ teams serving hundreds of applications to an organization of 17,000 hospital workers, thousands of patients, and many more students, teachers, and researchers. It’s a hell of a challenge. After four weeks of getting acclimatized, I feel I barely scratched the surface of the complexity of the EMC campus. It’s basically a small city.

But it’s fun, exciting, and it’s just what I needed.
Plus, it’s a fifteen-minute walk from my house. 😁
There’s just one issue: I do not want to write about this project. At least, not yet. It will take me months to make any meaningful progress. I need things to play out for a while to see if the decisions I've made so far are good or bad ones. Plus, it’s nice not to feel the pressure of readers, followers, and the rest of the market for a while.
I believe I am where I should be right now.
On top of that, the focus on my new gig means I finally have personal time available to pick up that hobby of mine that’s been begging for my attention these past two years: fiction writing. If you’re interested in my lifelong learning as a post-AI author, check out my other blog on Ghost.
Meanwhile, this Substack publication will remain silent for a while longer.
Thanks for reading,
Jurgen
